Evolution of the Human Heart & Psyche...

If Slavery only ended,
Two lifetimes ago...
Then I must remember,
That we're very slow to grow...

To force a change so sudden
Is way too much to ask...
The way the human heart unfolds
A very grueling task...

Animal Justice?

If justice was being served to those who ate animals With Slow Decline, and Premature Death...
With Heart Disease, Stroke, Cancer, Diabetes, Alzheimer's, Impotence...
Then would we be as quick to judge?

Are we so cruel as to want to add on to the misfortune of others?  Do we throw additional stones and accusations towards those who are already going to suffer?

The Beings "Above."

A being above me makes me tender and frail...
I cry and scream but to no avail...
I pull and tug with all of my might...
Poked then prodded before my last light...

Enlightenment

Do we point to light discovered,
For others to better see?
Or do we point a sun so scorching,
Causing everyone to flee?

Do we shine light and nourish,
To tend to seeds within?
Or do we break, force, and pry,
Until the inner light goes dim?

When My Blinders Fall...

There are times my blinders fall... I do my best not to see, not feel, not to experience certain things in their entirety... But now I'm experiencing one of those times when I can no longer create walls shielding me from what I feel deeply, truly... I literally feel pain... a deep aching within my chest... Thinking of the pain that other beings must endure because of our actions as human beings... In a country of abundance... A country of choice... I'm deeply saddened by our food choices... I'm inundated by commercials on TV... Burgers, chicken, lobster... Imagining the pain they must experience for our sake. A pain so unnecessary... It hurts me so much to think about it... Posts on social media... People celebrating food... food I see as suffering, death... Celebrating as if it's so cool to eat certain foods... How do we as humans celebrate that which causes so much pain. People so proud to eat things like foie gras... pain of ducks and geese... People so proud to eat crabs and lobsters... a painful death of scalding hot water... Where's our humanity? Our connection to that which exists outside of ourselves? Our innate ability to empathize with other beings? Our desire to spread as much kindness as we can throughout our world? Our desire to work for the greater good? The way my heart works, I'm hurting right now... The deep ache inside... Like a place of infinite sadness I cannot mask. Maybe it's better if I couldn't feel these things... Right now I lack strength, I lack courage... I hurt and I don't like it... But at the same time I disdain the feeling of ignorance... Ignorance is bliss for whom??? In this world there's so much that's hard for me to accept... At this moment I feel so weak and powerless... I feel the dull ache around my heart... The irony of feeling connected... it also makes me feel disconnected...

Not saying anything when it may benefit...

If I know a piece of information or action will be of benefit to another, yet I keep my mouth shut...

That makes me partially responsible for allowing an unhealthy status quo to continue...

I need to suck it up and be brave enough to start speaking my mind if it will benefit others...

I have to start being more concerned and quit ignoring what's unhealthy...

Plant-power!

From the firefighters featured in the movie "Forks Over Knives." The movie FOK is totally in line with my passion... as well as the idea that strength and fitness can be attained through Plant Power...

The little pilot study shown in the video demonstrates the value of a plant-based diet... In just 28 days, a person can lower their cholesterol significantly...

11

Today marks the 11th anniversary of my Aunt's unexpected death... It also marks the anniversary of me committing to my veg lifestyle... That day spurred me into action... Action to do the things I felt were important in my life back then...

In the moment to moment I have to remember my deeply rooted passion... If I'm to follow my heart's deep desire for expression... I must keep fighting for what I believe in... That which I view as unnecessary suffering due to ignorance... I pray I'm able to be a beckoning light to others who wish to see a better way for their own health, and for the health, well-being and quality of life of those they influence...

For a long time I was discouraged... But I've come way too far to lay down and give up...

Keep on fighting... keep on fighting... It's my heart's desire...
